Is it just me or is Pelosi an idiot? Did she just tank the deal by laying on the "Vote Democrat because the Republicans did this to us" speech? And isn’t this the same woman who wouldn’t allow a vote on impeachment?
I'm starting to wonder which party Nancy represents...

I don't think Pelosi did anything intentionally. Who would really expect that the Republicans would vote against the plan their leaders, McCain and Bush, support, because Palin gave a mean speech? After all, this was Bush's bail out plan and Bush and McCain have been begging for the republicans to support it.
That said, some people are saying Pelosi is a genius. The republicans are being ridiculed in some circles for voting against the interest of the nation because their feelings were hurt. If they had simply voted for the bill, the stock market would not have crashed. Now, they get the blame for the stock market crash, their free market ideology is further discredited, plus McCain is discredited for being unable to lead his own political party. In a day or two, the Republicans are going to be forced to vote for the bill anyway, further losing face.
And the stock market will go up once the bill is passed, so no long term harm. (Presumably). I don't think Pelosi is that Machiavellian, but some people like to pretend...

In addition to having a tendency to act like an idiot, such as yesterday for example, Nancy Pelosi also has a perpetual "I'm crazy!" facial expression that creeps the heck out of me.

I disagree. It's much more disconcerting that the Repugnicans would choose to not help the country because their feelings were hurt a little bit by a speech. A speech which, if you've read it, was factually accurate.

Pelosi hurting their feelings is just a smokescreen, trying to shift the blame. The real reason so many Republicans bailed on the bailout was that they're poll-following windvanes (i.e. typical politicians) and polling is heavily against the bailout because the average person has no idea what the bailout really represents and thinks it's only a handout to the wealthy. (As opposed to, oh, trying to at least slap a bandaid on an economy that's about to slide into a death spiral that will leave the wealthiest in decent shape but put average people into a sinkhole.)

The bailout really is focussing on the wealthy, and hoping the rest will follow suit. It's Republican trickle-downism in a nutshell. I still think they need to come clean and actually nationalise the failed institutions, or buy up all their loans and start lending themselves (effectively creating a government-owned bank). It's the European solution, and I think it's a lot more honest than giving out money... with really no strings attached.

The only reason you're even aware of the speech is because the Republicans needed something to blame after it turned out their vote actually had starkly visible negative real-life consequences. Her comments were unremarkable otherwise.

Yes, she is an idiot. No, she didn't tank the deal; the House Republicans were going to vote against it anyway and this is just the (lame) excuse they settled on. Even Rush Limbaugh is saying it's a stupid excuse.
